Start with how your skin feels

Skin changes with the season, the water, the weather and the day. Choose what your skin is asking for, and we’ll show you the textures that answer it.

FIRST, A LITTLE SKIN SCIENCE

Why skin feels the way it does

The outermost layer of skin holds water in with a thin barrier of natural oils. Hot showers, cleansers that strip, dry indoor air and cold wind all thin that barrier, so water escapes faster and skin feels tight, rough or dull. Most everyday skincare does one of three jobs: it cleanses gently, it smooths away dry surface buildup, or it adds back softness and holds moisture in.

WHY IT HAPPENSWater leaves the skin faster than it is replaced, especially in cold months and after long, hot showers.

WHAT HELPSRich butters to soften, and oils applied to damp skin to hold moisture in.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked

Can I have more than one skin need?

Yes, and most people do. Skin can feel dry on the legs and rough on the elbows at the same time. Build your routine from more than one need.

Does my skin need change by season?

Usually. Many people reach for richer butters in fall and winter and lighter oils and lotions in summer.

What if my skin is cracked, painful or irritated?

Skip exfoliation and scented products on that area, and check with a dermatologist. Skincare is for comfort and appearance, not for skin conditions.
